AW ROSTAMANI SUPPORTS THE GREEN DRIVE TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT
 
A W Rostamani group handed over an Urvan mini-bus to Sharjah English School, winner of a country-wide held competition in support of a green environment, for the EnviroFone Schools Project.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates 17th April 2008 – A W Rostamani group handed over an Urvan mini-bus to Sharjah English School, winner of a country-wide held competition in support of a green environment, for the EnviroFone Schools Project.

The ceremony took place at the Deira showroom of Arabian Automobiles, flagship company of A W Rostamani and exclusive dealer of Nissan, Infiniti and Renault.

Mr. Michel I Ayat, Chief Executive Officer of Arabian Automobiles, said the
A W Rostamani Group was proud to be part of the Project. “We were pleased by the response, the number of mobile phones collected have been staggering. We have generated an environmental difference at the schools – many schools have continued with varying recycling programmes to initiate the importance of looking after our ecosystem and developed in-house initiatives for the future.  ”

Mr. Stuart Fleming, Managing Director of Envirofone, expressed appreciation of the support received from A W Rostamani. “At the beginning of the campaign, A W Rostamani pledged a new school mini-bus for the school that collected the most mobile phones. The response to this most generous offer was enormous, with schools throughout the UAE adopting the drive to go green.”

450 primary schools took part in this competition to collect and recycle as many old and broken mobile phones as possible, Drop boxes were installed at schools across the UAE to encourage pupils, parents and teachers to hand in old or unused mobile phones. The Project ran in conjunction with an environmentalist art competition. The exercise aimed at reflecting the importance of recycling and caring for the natural beauty of the UAE.

The EnviroFone Project was launched in November 2007 with the support of the Emirates Foundation, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and the Ministry for Education.
