When it comes to power the X-TRAIL's got plenty. At its heart is a newly designed 2.5-liter engine delivering 180 horsepower engine with CVTC (continuous Variable Valve Timing Control) for great on road acceleration, overtaking performance and top speed together with excellent fuel efficiency.

Super smooth; the QR25DE engine has a compact balancer shaft that significantly reduces noise and vibration, giving an exceptionally quiet, comfortable drive.

Easy gearshifts; the electronically - controlled 4 speed automatic transmission is very smooth shifting and enhances fuel efficiency. Double cone synchro in the new manual 5-speed transmission provides light smooth shifting.

Precise stops; you're always sure with the stable braking performance of the 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes. ABS, Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist optimize braking performance in all conditions.

All mode 4x4 gives instant access to life and places beyond the boundaries of everyday.

Automode; let the X-trail choose. In Auto mode sensors detect the need for extra traction and distribute appropriate torque from mainly front wheel drive to full-time four wheel drive.

2WD mode; simple push button selection gives you three driving modes to choose from. On the road in normal driving conditions 2WD mode offers excellent fuel economy.

Lock mode; locks the X-trail in 4x4 with a set front to rear torque distribution ratio of 57:43 for added traction.
